India, officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the second-most populous country, the seventh-largest country by land area, and the most populous democracy in the world. India is famous for tourism means all types of tourist destinations in one place. India offers enormous variety for trekkers – not just in its tremendous wealth of mountain landscapes, but also as a melting pot of cultural diversity. For many, the Himalayas are synonymous with Nepal, but vast tracts of this magnificent range form the northern borders of India. From remote and unspoiled Ladakh in the northwest through to Darjeeling and Sikkim in the east, these beautiful mountains offer a diversity of scenery and culture unmatched anywhere. You choose hiking from village to village, led by a local guide, staying in welcoming village homestays, enjoying warm, natural hospitality and home cooking. Choose from a range of inspirational routes in two regions of the Indian Himalayas, with options from gentle walks to rewarding hikes and treks.
Travel between the UK and France is currently restricted. If, however, you would like to plan a holiday – be it a walking, cycling, touring or snow holiday – we are accepting bookings for 2021 as normal, with the added bonus that prices for our summer holidays remain unchanged from 2022.
To give you a good idea of how we can tailor our trips to your individual requirements, take a look at the section of the website specifically devoted to travellers from outside the UK.

With a huge difference in landscapes and culture, each region of India offers its own unique experience. Trek along the Singalila Ridge in the shadow of Kangchenjunga or in Kerala’s fragrant Cardamon Hills in the tropical south. Enjoy a backwater cruise, and explore famous Buddhist monasteries and villages. DTravco offers a range of trips to India with varying degrees of difficulty. In Kerala, the trekking conditions are fairly straightforward, following very good trails, and in Darjeeling, walking conditions underfoot are easy, and follow good trails at all times. With the exception of Kerala, our trips are at high altitudes which will add to the challenge.
